about

Originally released in November 1995 'Superstate' was the debut album by London rock band Skyscraper. Although outwardly heavy the band's music contained a melodic inventiveness & an idiosyncratic guitar style which brought it swift attention. UK magazine Kerrang remarked that 'an album as urgent and sinister and accessible and memorable as Superstate is going to be hard to beat' while rival publication Metal Hammer called it 'the best debut by far of any British rock band in recent years' while the more indie-centric Select magazine described it as 'top notch British rock at its white hot blistering best'.

Produced in part by Young Gods supremo Roli Mossiman and released on the band's own label Dynosupreme Records, the album was critically acclaimed and an independent chart hit. The band toured the UK extensively in support of the album, which included dates with the likes of Killing Joke, Helmet, Prong and Therapy?

The album is presented here remastered and with an additional nine tracks of remixes, rarities and B-sides.

Note- this album was also released outside the UK in 1996 by German label Edel. The non-UK version has different cover artwork.

Despite being favourites of the UK rock press and a successful live act, the band split in 1998. ... more
